Publisher Dotemu have revealed their new game, Metal Slug Tactics, during the Summer Games Fest kickoff show 2021.

Metal Slug Tactics, being developed by Lekir Studio, is a new take on the classic franchise, dropping the the river of bullets for a more tactical approach. Missions will have a roguelike system, but what that means, at this point remains to be seen.

The Anime style trailer shows of some of the series classic characters mixed in with bits of gameplay.

Metal Slug Tactics reunites Marco, Eri, Fio, and Tarma as they lead the Peregrine Falcon Squad into a new battlefield through dynamic, strategic combat. Players wield classic METAL SLUG weaponry, leveraging skill trees, perks, and a super attack-fueling adrenaline system to outwit and demolish flanks of the series’ signature villains.
