PES 2020 will be a standalone game after all.
Earliar this week, in a blog post, The PES developement team announced that PES 2021 would be a scaled back version.
The sheer scale of everything we are aiming to achieve for our next-gen debut has made it necessary to pare back our efforts in other areas of development. As a result, we have made the decision to launch this year’s PES as a streamlined offering in the form of a “season update”. That being said, we are still extremely confident that this year’s game offers fans more than enough thrills to tide them over until our next-gen title is ready for launch.
This led many to believe that rather than see a full scale release for PES 2021, we would instead receive it as a paid DLC update to the current game. Konami has since got in touch with media outlets to confirm that PES 2021 will in fact be a standalone game.
In what might be an effort to make up for the game being scaled back, the developement team has also announced that PES 2021 will have an “affordable anniversary price.” This is intended to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the series which originally came out back in July 1995. The post also said that they are going to be “several bonuses” that come with the game. What those will be remains to be seen.
The standard edition of the game will set players back $29.99, while the different club versions will cost $34.00. Players that already own a copy of PES 2020 and buy 2021 through that game will get a 20% discount. In addition to that, they will also receive a “veterans bonus,” which will include in-game items.
PES 2021 is set for release on September 9th 2020 on PS4, Xbox one, and PC . The first next-gen title, however, is slated to begin testing around mid 2021 with a release date coming that same year.
